Farrel Corp. of Ansonia, Conn., has introduced a new size to its FTX line of compounding extruders, this one with a screw diameter of 26 millimeters.
The clamshell-design machine can produce up to 80 pounds of compounds an hour. Farrel suggests combining the FTX-20 with a lower-priced twin-screw sidefeeder and a strand pelletizer, for a low total price.
Applications include development work or production of fiber-grade dispersion for color concentrate makers. The quick-opening barrel also allows the extruder to produce powder coatings or toner.
